Helmsdale Lodge Hostel

Helmsdale Lodge Hostel is located in the scenic coastal village of Helmsdale in north-east Sutherland, Scotland. It is in a prominent position at the north end of the village and is on the main NC500 and LEJOG routes. The property offers comfortable accommodation for guests travelling the far north coast. There are six en-suite bedrooms – each room sleeping up to four people. There is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk, a spacious open plan dining and lounge area, log burning stove, central heating, drying rooms, laundry facilities and free wifi. There is a large garden and a secure cycle shed. Car-parking is free on the roadside next to the hostel on Old Caithness Road.The building is the former village school gymnasium built in 1931. It is an extremely individual structure and refurbishments since ownership in 2006, have been sympathetic in efforts to retain its originality. The high ceilings and general layout of the building creates a spacious light and airy atmosphere.et in the small scenic village of Helmsdale, halfway between Inverness and John o’Groats. All rooms are ensuite and sleep up to 4 people including double room options. The hostel is an ideal base to explore this area and is prominent on The NC 500 route and Lands End to John O’Groats cycle and walking routes. The hostel has laundry and drying facilities and is ideal for cycling, coastal walks, hill walks and birdwatching. Helmsdale is a friendly and welcoming village just a 5 minute stroll and a variety of restaurants and shops, also a local Timespan Arts Centre.
