Hostel Torridon

Hostelling International

Welcome to our hostel

Situated at the head of Upper Loch Torridon in the shadow of the mighty Liathach, and only a stone's throw from Upper Loch Torridon, Torridon Youth Hostel is a great option for walkers and climbers as well as those simply wishing to relax and enjoy the wildlife.

This hostel has a good range of multi-shared rooms and private/family rooms. It has its own store, self-catering facilities, two panoramic lounges and a drying room.

Towering immediately above the hostel, Liathach at 3456 feet is the highest peak in the area and with its spectacular pinnacles, it is one of the most challenging ridge walks in Scotland. Equally enjoyable expeditions may also be taken to Beinn Eighe, Beinn Alligin, Beinn Liath Mor, Sgorr Ruadh, Maol Chean Dearg, and Slioch. Other local activities include clay pigeon shooting, archery, kayaking and bike hire.

Hostel was very cold as the heating didn't come on until about 6pm. Very outdated. Kitchen was good but bedrooms and bathrooms very tired and need updating. Only two female showers for about 15-20 rooms, not enough. Very expensive- paid 120 pound for 2 nights for a twin. Before that we'd stayed in a new luxury bunkhouse in a private en suite brand new pod on Skye (Cowshed) which was the same price and was far superior.

Hostels don't get much better than this. Lots of space, great facilities, the best showers of any hostel I've stayed in, friendly and helpful staff. The perfect base for exploring Torridon's mountains. The wifi was a bit flakey, but that's not always a bad thing!

Unser 4-Bettzimmer roch etwas feucht-muffig. Der Rest war perfekt.
