Laivahostel S/S Bore is a unique hostel located on a museum ship, with a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of 1960s Swedish cruises. Originally built as a steamship, the ship is now permanently anchored in the Aurajoki River in front of the Maritime Centre Forum Marinum, in close proximity to Turku Harbour and Turku Castle.
The hostel offers 120 cabins (1-4 people), with most having their own shower and toilet. The price includes bed linens, a towel, morning sauna, and breakfast. In the hostel’s Tax-Free lounge area, there is a TV, daily newspapers, a small library, a kitchen corner (microwave, water and coffee maker, refrigerator), and a luggage room with lockable storage lockers. Free wireless internet is available in the cabins and the ship’s common areas.
Hostel guests can park their cars for free in the Forum Marinum parking area, but a parking disc (valid for up to 8 hours) or a parking permit is required. The parking permit can be obtained from the reception. The hostel’s reception also sells tickets to the Bore ship’s history exhibition, which is located on the ship’s bridge.
Laivahostel S/S Bore serves as a learning environment for various fields of Turku Vocational Institute, including hotel, restaurant, and tourism industry, technical fields, as well as home economics and cleaning service students.
