HI Bergen Hostel Montana is located in fantastic surroundings, up the hillside of Mount Ulriken, about 4 km south of Bergen City Centre and easily accessed by public transportation. We welcome backpackers, groups and families to a friendly and informal atmosphere all year round whether you choose to visit us during the hectic summer season or in winter. Whenever you choose to arrive: Bergen is a city with many activities and a vibrant nightlife.From the hostel you have a panoramic view of the Bergen Valley, the city with its harbor, and even further out to the islands West of Bergen. An even more breathtaking view is offered if you hike from Montana to the top of Mount Ulriken – the trail starts just around the corner.Our international volunteers organize free activities for our guests such as hikes, games, BBQ’s, sightseeing, music – or just lots of friendly talking during our daily free Coffee and Cookies – all in the name of bringing people together!We offer you a wide range of accommodation – from private rooms to dorms. Free Wi-Fi and a complete all you can eat breakfast buffet is included.Our well-equipped kitchen is open for our guests. Getting to the hostel: The airport bus journey to the city centre takes about 40 minutes. Go off at the central bus terminal called Bergen Busstasjon. Transfer to the local bus nr 12 ‘Montana’ that departs from platform B. Show the airport bus ticket for a transfer discount.The bus ride to Montana takes 15 -20 minutes. Don’t hesitate to ask the driver to announce the Montana stop for You. When you exit the bus you’ll be about 200 meters from the youth hostel. Look for a hostel sign indicating the direction.You can check the timetable on the local transportation website skyss.noIf you are 4 travelling together a taxi directly from the airport to Montana can be cheaper. Once You have arrived at the central bus terminal called Bergen Busstasjon change to the local bus nr 12 ‘Montana’ it departs from platform B.The bus ride to Montana takes about 15 minutes. Don’t hesitate to ask the driver to tell you when to go off (the bus stop is about 200 meters from the youth hostel look for a hostel sign indicating the direction). The last bus leaves the city centre between midnight and 01:00 depending on week day and time of the year. You can check the timetable on the local transportation website skyss.no From Voss: Follow E16 towards Bergen. After approximately 85 km (at Ulset) your road will be E39. After the 3km long tunnel ‘Fløyfjellstunnelen’ choose the right hand lane marked ‘Stavanger’. After a few hundred meters this leads you onto a multilane street where you should get to the farthest left lane as soon as possible. Keep left up to the traffic lights and turn left into Ibsens gate. Follow this street to its end – where you turn right onto road number 585. At the first hilltop after about 1/2 – 1 km you’ll see a sign pointing to Montana. Turn left and follow signs all the way to the youth hostel.From City Centre: follow Kong Oscars gate Road 585 southwards. After driving through the tunnel in Haukeland hospital area you soon get to a hilltop where you see a sign pointing to Montana. Follow the signs until you get here.Free parking at hostel.
