Danhostel Sønderborg-Vollerup is located in an 8-acre oasis and is great for families with children. The main building was built as an inn in 1850, and the ‘Solgården’ buikding is from 1995. The guest kitchen, dining room, lounge and bedrooms still retain their old period style. The hostel has 50 rooms with private or shared bathrooms. There are 10 wheelchair friendly rooms, 10 self-contained cottages, free parking, WIFI, a fireplace, table tennis hall, mini-golf course, petanque, grill terrace, trampoline and a rope bridge. The children can play in the garden, and say good morning to the noose bears, rabbits, and goats. Visit Universe Science and Experience Park and the island of Als, located 30 km from the Danish-German border. Als has many forested areas along the coastline, and is ideal for swimming, angling, windsurfing, hiking and cycling. Sønderborg is famous for its Castle, Dybbøl Banke Historical Centre, and the Gendarme path.
