Lucerne Youth Hostel

Our hostel in Lucerne – the gateway to Central Switzerland – is a popular choice for groups looking to explore this delightful city. The small but remarkably preserved old town which has a maze of streets, passages and squares can be reached in just 15 minutes from the hostel front door. Once here there are a number of guided walking tours on offer. Or if you prefer to rent a bike from the hostel, then you can cover more ground.Don’t miss The Chapel Bridge, a landmark of Lucerne, which is said to be the oldest wood bridge of Europe. And a trip up Mount Pilatus overlooking the city is also a must-do. Get to the top by using the world’s steepest cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad (not operating in wintertime) or cable cars in the summer. Once at the summit, you will have stunning views of the ‘real’ Alps. And if you are up for a challenge, you can also walk to the top on foot, which takes about 4 hours from Kriens. The hostel staff have managed to negotiate a number of local discounts for groups – many of the various museums in the city are included within these offers as is the indoor swimming pool and the Lucerne Theatre. So with history, sports, shopping and culture all to be found in the fascinating city of Lucerne, there really is no excuse for your group not to visit!
