Time Hostel CITY is a unique boutique hostel offering hotel-level comfort at hostel prices in the upper town of Jyväskylä, right next to the university campus. The hostel was awarded Finland’s Best Hostel in 2021.
The cozy and individually decorated rooms feature high-quality, ready-made beds, towels, and amenities such as a private refrigerator, work desk, LED TV, Netflix, Chromecast, and WiFi. Some rooms also include a sofa bed. There are rooms for 1–4 guests and one shared dormitory for eight people. The total capacity is 25 guests, and with extra beds, up to 33. Showers and toilets are located in the hallway.
Guests can prepare their own meals from breakfast to dinner in the well-equipped shared kitchen. Next to the kitchen, there is a comfortable lounge and dining area for relaxing and socializing. The library corner offers a peaceful spot for reading, playing board games, or using the PlayStation. Bicycles are available for rent nearby.
The heart of the hostel lies in its storytelling wall paintings by the local artist Huonosti maalatut seinät (Iikka Hackman). Each room and corridor features unique artwork, where the word “Time” appears in various expressions. At the end of the hallway, a memorial piece honors the artist’s late friend, and in the lobby, a world map invites guests to mark their hometowns.
