YHA The Sill at Hadrian’s Wall combines a superb 86 bed Youth Hostel with all the facilities you’ve come to expect from YHA including a self-catering kitchen as well as en-suite rooms – perfect for families.The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre will include inspiring exhibition space plus a shop and café with a large terrace which is perfect for admiring the spectacular views. Outside there will be innovative spaces designed specifically for outdoor learning, music and theatre, or to just sit and soak up the surroundings.Inspired by The Great Whin Sill, a nearby geographical feature, the building will complement and reflect the landscape with dry stone walls, glass and timber – you’ll even be able to walk on the green roof! Renewable energy will be used throughout the facility. Getting to the hostel: Nearest major airport is Newcastle there is a metro connection into the city enabling people to pick up the rail network (Newcastle to Carlisle line). Bus service- there is a small bus that runs direct to site once an hour from Hexham during the day (AD122). Rail services between Newcastle and Hexham are frequent approx.. every ½ hour
