A unique hostel and camp center is located in a sea fortress that is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just a 15-minute ferry ride from the center of Helsinki. The setting amidst the archipelago nature is peaceful and historic. Hostel Suomenlinna serves a variety of groups, school camps, and individual travelers. The hostel is open all year round.
By using the services of Hostel Suomenlinna, you support non-formal learning as well as environmental and cultural heritage education. The operations are managed by the non-profit organization Suomen leirikouluyhdistys ry. This responsible camp center and accommodation provider funds the association’s organizational work through its activities and offers a framework for high-quality school camp and other educational programs. Environmental and cultural heritage education in line with the World Heritage Site is carried out at Hostel Suomenlinna.
Hostel Suomenlinna has been awarded Hostelling International’s HI-Q&S certificate for responsible accommodation and the Sustainable Travel Finland label, which requires concrete and systematic sustainability actions. The hostel is also part of the rainbow-friendly We Speak Gay value-based tourism community.
The hostel has 39 beds in eight rooms on two floors, two lounges, and a guest kitchen for light cooking. Book a cozy private room for one to seven people or a bed in a dormitory. All beds have high-quality, multi-layered, appropriately firm foam mattresses that ensure a good night’s sleep. Guests have access to free wireless internet, a guest computer, TV and books, as well as Fair Trade coffee and tea. The showers are equipped with Finnish Berner Ekopharma shampoos and conditioners. Buffet breakfast can be ordered in advance no later than the previous day.
Children are welcome guests at the hostel! There is a toy chest, outdoor games equipment and board games. The restrooms have potty chairs, and our dining area includes a toddler chair. A baby/toddler bed is provided free of charge. Well-behaved pets are welcome in private rooms.
